Sr Dympna Clancy FMA - RIP

Sr Dympna Clancy FMA RIP
It was with deep sadness that SS102fm received the news of the death of Sr Dympna Clancy FMA on 28th February 2017.
Sr. Dympna Clancy (Salesian Sisters, Westbury, Corbally, Limerick, formerly of Glencanane, Kildysart, Co. Clare) 28th February 2017, peacefully at Milford Care Centre.
Deeply regretted by her Salesian sisters, brothers Louis, Paul, Jim and Tommy, sisters Mary and Helen, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family and friends. Rest in peace.
Sr Dympna had been a personal friend to the SS102fm team for many years and also a contributor to the programme in terms of interviews and reflections (particularly to our Christmas and New Years programmes), written contributions to the blog and prayerful support behind the scenes.

As one online tribute put it:

"I grew up on the northside of Limerick city. Most of the free education for girls in the 70's and 80's was provided by the Salesian sisters, and that meant some of the local youth work was organised by them too. Dympna was one of the people who taught by day, ran youth groups and parish meetings after that, and took us young teens off to places like Fanore over the summer to camp in the dunes.

Always smiling, always organising people, always moving; Sr Dympna Clancy is probably responsible for a lot of friendships made in teenage years that are still alive today. She and her Salesian sisters made a significant difference to the lives of young girls and teenagers in Limerick city over the past forty years.

Rest in peace Dympna Clancy - thanks for the gifts of your enthusiasm, commitment, and smiling presence in our lives. It made all the difference."
